A committee of Ashley De Vos, Prof Priyan Dias, Senaka Peiris, Saro Weerasuriya, Ravin Ferdinando and Ravi Gooneratne together with Warden, Sub Warden and Bertal Pinto-Jayawardena has been set up to finalise all management work relating to the renovation and preservation project of the Chapel of The Transfiguration.
This Committee met initially on the 14th of July to map out the best way forward to complete the Project. This meeting was held on site.
On the 28th of July, a detailed assessment was carried out of the extent of repairs needed by actually reviewing the state of the upper roof. This exercise had not been done in recent memory that goes back into the 1960's.
This effort was done with the assistance of the Fire Unit of the Sri Lanka Air Force and also by use of a scaffolding on the south side of the Chapel.
