Christ Church Cathedral dedicated & begun to serve as the College Chapel in Mutuwal.
The College Choir first mentioned in the history book.
1917 :
College moved from Mutuwal but only the Cathedral remained.
1921 :
Rev. Withers was given the task of campaigning funds for the Chapel.
The College choir was revived by Prof R.B.W.Jaysekera.
1923 :
The foundation stone for the new chapel was laid & consecrated by The Rt. Rev. Ernest Arthur Copleston, Bishop of Colombo.
1927 :
The Chapel of the Transfiguration dedicated by The Rt.Rev. Mark Carpentier Garnier, Bishop of Colombo.
The first service of the Chapel. (Sung Holy Eucharist)
1928 :
‘The Guild of St. Andrews’ was inaugurated to promote an active & lively interest in all Christian work concerned with the Chapel.
1936 :
The choir affiliated to the English School of Church Music.
The 'Guild of St. Nicholas' founded to encourage keenness & enthusiasm among choristers
1938 :
The new Hammond Organ was gifted by Sir Stewart Schneider.
1939 :
‘Guild of St. Thomas’ introduced that the Old boys may be linked in prayer & communion.
1947 :
The Festival of nine lessons & carols was first introduced Rev. R.H.B. Yin & was based on the style of that of Kings College, Cambridge.
1959 :
The Church of Ceylon named this day as The Feast of St. Thomas, the Apostle, patron saint of India & Ceylon.
1960 :
The Student Christian Movement inaugurated by Rev. R.H.B. Yin for the whole Christian community of the College.
1962 :
The Ceylon Liturgy was used for the first time in thehistory of the Chapel.
1963 :
The Sunday services were started to be sung in Sinhala on Deva Surya Sena Setting
1968 :
The mural of Christ’s Transfiguration dedicated.
1986 :
The New Allen Digital Computerised System Organ dedicated.
1997 :
The establishment of the Society known as ‘ Friends of the Chapel of the Transfiguration’.
The Inaugural thanksgiving, intercession & memorial service for Thomians who served & are serving in the battlefields.
2001 :
Installation of the 3 manual Johannes Sweelink Organ
